Empire Magazine 100 Greatest Films (Australia)

The Australian edition of Empire conducted a poll of the 100 Greatest Movies of All Time in 2007. As one would expect from a readers poll there’s plenty here that wouldn’t impress the critics. Pirates of the Caribbean and Grease particularly stand out, surprisingly placed in the top 20!

Entertainment Weekly’s 100 GREATEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME

In 1999 Time-Life Inc. published Entertainment Weekly’s 100 Greatest Movies of All Time. A good mix of classics from around the world with The Godfather and Citizen Kane once again at the top. La Dolce Vita is the highest placed of the non-American films, for once not overshadowed by Fellini’s other great masterpiece 8 1/2. Buy – 100 Greatest Movies of All Time book.

AFI’s Greatest Movie Musicals

In 2006, as part of the AFI 100 Years… series,  the AFI unveiled its Greatest Movie Musicals list of the top musicals in American cinema. In a change to the majority of AFI lists in this series only the top 25 films are shown. It’s hard to question the placings on this list with Singin’ in the Rainm placed at no. 1,  not just the greatest musical ever made but arguably one of the greatest films ever made.
