A screwball musical comedy in which Fred Astaire plays an American dancer named Jerry Travers, who comes to London to star in a show produced by Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton). While there he meets and attempts to impress wealthy Dale Tremont (Ginger Rogers) who is on holiday and wrongly believes Travers to be the husband of her friend Madge (Helen Broderick).
